The Community Learning in Kirklees (CLIK) website is provided by Kirklees Neighbourhood Learning Partnership. The website was re-designed by a colleague at Interactive Solutions and a Google map of "Where You Can Learn", which shows "sites where learning takes place in Kirklees" was developed and added to the site, along with a Venue Management System. The Venue Management System allows venues to be added, edited and deleted. There is also a "Get Map Position" feature which returns the Longitude and Latitude for a postcode and allows the user to adjust the position of the Google map marker. The Venue Management System also generates the XML file that drives the Where You Can Learn Google map.

I worked on this website while employed by Interactive Solutions. The front end was built by a colleague, who then passed it on to me for the front and back end development. I created the Google map using Javascript and it is driven by an XML file containing details of the venues. The Venue Management System was developed in ASP. Net 2 and uses a SQL server 2005 database to store the venue details.

Technologies used:
  • ASP.Net 2
  • SQL Server 2005
  • Google Maps Integration
  • Javascript
  • XML
Website: http://www.kirkleesclik.org.uk/admin/index.htm The website is still online but without the interactive map.

A Little About me:
I have many years of commercial experience and I'm not afraid to try new things, be it a new programming language or web technology.
